Develop the manager, not just the number.

Build product knowledge, customer-process skill, professional judgment, self-coaching, leadership, and accountability across every stage of a powersports F&I career.

The development standard

What makes F&I training transfer to the dealership?

Training transfers when a manager can explain the skill, practice it against varied situations, use it inside the approved process, receive specific feedback, and demonstrate it consistently with customers and documentation. Course completion is evidence of activity. Observable application is evidence of development.

Manager-development curriculum

Five levels. One evidence-based progression.

Start at the person's current responsibility, practice observable work, and advance from demonstrated behavior rather than tenure alone.

Competency progression

Advance when the behavior becomes visible.

01

Beginner

Understand the role, approved products, customer process, documentation expectations, and the language of F&I.

02

Developing

Practice discovery, menu presentation, product explanation, customer questions, and consistent execution.

03

Proficient

Diagnose performance, handle varied product and unit situations, and self-correct through evidence.

04

Advanced

Coach difficult conversations, manage product and process variation, and connect quality with retained performance.

05

Management

Set standards, review scorecards, coach managers, audit execution, and align the dealership around one process.

Coaching cadence

One behavior. Repeated practice. Visible follow-through.

A useful coaching conversation identifies one observable behavior, uses evidence from practice or the dealership workflow, gives specific feedback, records the next application, and returns to it on a known date.

Directors and GMs should review leading behaviors alongside PVR, eligible product penetration, mix, cancellations, chargebacks, file quality, customer feedback, and relevant changes in the operation.
